DOTA Rakes in $30,000 for Willow Glen Business Association

Word has it that the Willow Glen Business Association (WGBA) made about $30K from its June 26  “Dancin’ on the Avenue” festival.

Personally, I’d like to see a big chunk of that come back to the Avenue, and not in “Avenue Beautification” because businesses like mine are already paying for that.

How about some events to bring hard revenue dollars to the businesses that are on the Avenue?  After all, my business, as well as several others, lost hundreds of revenue dollars because customers couldn’t reach us.  We think of it as the donation we made to the Willow Glen Business Association against our will.

So how about it, WGBA?  What are you going to donate back to the Avenue’s businesses?

I would love to see the DOTA take place on Sundays from 4-9 so that we can have our Saturday business without disruption. Los Gatos does the Farmers Mkt, sidewalk sales and Music in the Park on Sundays and they get a great, supportive local turn out. Why we do this thing on Saturdays is beyond me. The restaurants would still get business and nobody would have to be hurt by the event every year.
